Oculus, a step closer to virtual reality

It was at the beginning of 2016 when Oculus announced its virtual reality kit: Oculus Rift, after years of delays and development. A bittersweet release as it was expected that this kit would be sold as “the best virtual reality experience” but was surpassed by the HTC Vive proposal. Now Marc Zuckerberg has become the standard bearer of his latest version, which was presented at the conferences ‘Oculus Connect 3’ with some great news.

Electronic leisure and virtual reality, the new digital trend

On October 6, Marc Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook presented Oculus Rift as a new digital trend that brings together the world of virtual reality and video games with the most social character. Two years have passed since the giant Facebook acquired Oculus for more than 3,000 million dollars, with the main objective of developing a virtual reality platform available to users: “We are here to make virtual reality the next big thing platform, “said Zuckerberg.

A commitment to telepresence

In this way, Facebook continues to work on its future business strategy linked to virtual reality. Mark Zuckerberg has personally presented the great novelties of Oculus in the ‘Oculus Connect 3’,

Zuckerberg explained that the company is no longer just entertainment and narrative, but wants to bet on telepresence. The CEO of Facebook assured that they will make virtual reality “the next engineering platform”. “We think that any system can be improved. Whatever it is, everything is improvable: software, hardware, a system, a company … You have to think like that. We want it to be like the real presence. ”

The future of video games in Oculus

The problem presented at the beginning of 2016 Oculus Rift was mainly that it arrived incomplete, since to enjoy virtual reality experiences with an important degree of immersion it was necessary to have wireless controls, which will arrive for next year. It is expected that the launch of the wireless controls will be linked with a series of specific video games, which will serve to exploit their capabilities.

Better sound experience

The sound experience is very important for virtual reality. That’s why Oculus does not want to lose the opportunity to launch new related hardware. Now the company wants to deepen in this field, with the launch of the Rift hearing aids.

Mark Zuckerberg has shown a prototype of helmets of virtual reality complemente independent, thought to be taken to any part and to be used without needing to incorporate telephones in his interior or to connect it to the computers. The idea is that in addition to being independent it can also be affordable, which can be available to users. The commercialization of Rift hearing aids is scheduled for December, with an approximate retail price of $ 49.

Oculus Avatars, more real characters

The video game company has also been developing different improvements in terms of avatars, developing the latest advances in the creation and personalization of virtual characters. With the new updates avatars can now show facial expressions such as laughter or anger. In this sense, Oculus Avatars has been presented, the tool with which users can create their own avatars to represent them virtually in Virtual Reality. This tool will come hand in hand with the new Oculus Touch controllers, whose launch on mobile devices is scheduled for next year.
